WLA SERVES UP BARBECUE TEXAS STYLE
AT RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE
On February 23, 2010, the entire staff at WLA prepared and served a Texas Style Barbecue at the Ronald McDonald House in Orlando. The Ronald McDonald House serves as a home-away-from-home for families from around the world receiving medical treatment in the Orlando area.
WLA prepared and served dinner for over 40 residents and decorated the dining room with cactus and cowboy boots! And what would a barbecue be without dessert? That’s right – it wouldn’t be a WLA Texas Style BBQ at all! Our own accomplished baking team prepared several delicious treats. The residents and volunteer staff enjoyed dinner, the festive atmosphere, and a momentary break from the difficult times that brought each of them to the Ronald McDonald House.

Who would think that a cookie or a cupcake could make such a difference? On June 19, 2009, Wendy L. Aikin, P.A. hosted a bake sale that was part of the Share Our Strength’s Great American Bake Sale, a national effort to end childhood hunger in our community and across the nation. Our office baked, wrapped, and toted hundreds of cookies, cupcakes, breads and other baked goods to support the fight against childhood hunger. Funds received from the bake sales are granted to organizations in communities in Central Florida and across America that provide low income children with nutritious meals when they’re needed most during the summers and after-school.
